MIDDLE SCHOOL MUSIC

 

Middle School Band is offered as an elective course in 6th, 7th and 8th Grades.  The Middle School Band is a continuation of 5th grade band.  Students in Middle School band have a full band rehearsal three days a week for 43 minutes, and small group or individual lessons once a week.

Middle School Choir  All sixth grade students are required to take Choir for the first semester. All non-Band students, are required to take Choir for the year. Students have the option of participating in Choir throughout their career in middle school. Requirements: All students are required to attend one 15-20 minute lesson per week and to attend all performances. Students have their voices tested each quarter to monitor their progress in range, voice changes and pitch matching. There are opportunities for students to learn sight reading, audition for solos, participate in Solo and Ensemble (March), and Large Group Clinic (April), and for students in 7th & 8th grade to participate in Honors Choir (January), All performances can be found on the Music calendar.

  • Bachelor’s Degree from Clarke University, Dubuque, IA

  • Master’s Degree in Education from University of Minnesota, St. Mary’s

  • Currently teaching Kindergarten, 2nd, 4th and 5th grade General Music, Middle School Choir and High School Choir

  • Lives in Dubuque with her husband, Tom

  • Enjoys spending time with friends and family, singing, traveling and working on the house
