ABOUT SOUTHWESTERN COMMUNITY SCHOOLS

The Southwestern Wisconsin Community School District Staff is committed to providing a quality education for all students.  Our staff works to instill the critical thinking and communication tools that are required for success into every lesson. Students must work to hone these skills, taking advantage of every learning opportunity offered.

 

This educational partnership goes beyond student and teacher, it extends to the community. Home and school need to collaborate with one goal in mind: student preparedness. According the to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, people will average over ten jobs between the ages of 18-42. Preparing students for a specific job that may not last more than a few years shouldn't be our goal.

Together we must create reflective learners who can be creative problem solvers, who can work in cooperative teams and who can apply their skills to master new concepts.

of Wisconsin. Part of a tri-

state area, we are just over

the border from Galena, Illinois and Dubuque, Iowa. Our school is made up of students from area communities including Hazel Green, Jamestown, Sinsinawa, and Kieler. To set up a tour of the school(s), contact the district office and we would be happy to show you around!

The Advantages of an education at Southwestern Schools

  • Excellent curriculum opportunities: SWSD offers more math/science/foreign language classes than any school in the area. In addition, advanced placement and college preparatory classes are available over the SRTNC long distance interactive network.

  • Southwestern elementary students score above the state average in Wisconsin State Standard Testing.
  • Class size advantages: SWSD offers classes of 15:1 students to teacher ratio.
  • Technology opportunities: SWSD offers one computer for every three students in Southwestern schools! Computers operate on a LAN/WAN network that is Internet and e-mail accessible.
  • Co-curricular/extra-curricular offerings: SWSD offers forensics, musicals, foreign language clubs, in addition to football, volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, softball, cross-country, baseball, golf, and wrestling.
  • Safety plan: the SWSD has an approved safety plan that is administered in a disciplined environment.
