MIDDLE SCHOOL MUSIC

 

Middle School Band is offered as an elective course in 6th, 7th and 8th Grades.  The Middle School Band is a continuation of 5th grade band.  Students in Middle School band have a full band rehearsal three days a week for 43 minutes, and small group or individual lessons once a week.

Parent Resources

Middle School Choir  All sixth grade students are required to take Choir for the first semester. All non-Band students, are required to take Choir for the year. Students have the option of participating in Choir throughout their career in middle school. Requirements: All students are required to attend one 15-20 minute lesson per week and to attend all performances. Students have their voices tested each quarter to monitor their progress in range, voice changes and pitch matching. There are opportunities for students to learn sight reading, audition for solos, participate in Solo and Ensemble (March), and Large Group Clinic (April), and for students in 7th & 8th grade to participate in Honors Choir (January), All performances can be found on the Music calendar.

  • Has been teaching at Southwestern since January 2014

  • Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin Platteville

  • Currently teaching 1st,  2nd, and 3rd grade General Music,  and High School Band

  • Lives in Platteville with her husband, Matt and her 3 kitties. 

  • Is extremely excited to see how much the High School Music Program has grown in the last 6 years!
